WB9662

Overview

WB9662 was tested under the experimental number 07651-10:0006. WB9662 is a common hard red spring wheat adapted to the Pacific Northwest. WB9662 was developed by WestBred, from the cross "Expresso/Avocete". Expresso contributes winter hardiness which allows WB9662 to be planted as a fall planted spring wheat. WB9662 is a semi-dwarf hard red spring wheat. The head is strap shaped, middense, awned and inclined at maturity. The auricles are absent of anthocyanin but hair is present. The chaff color is white at maturity and the stem is hollow. The glume shoulders are oblique with an acuminate beak. The seed is hard, red, and oval with angular cheeks. The brush is short with no collar.
